France’s CPI falls in July by 0.4%

 

France’s retail sales fell in the previous month on the background of lower manufacturing output during summer sales which started in August, notes Insee on Thursday.

 

France’s CPI fell in July by 0.4% versus June and rose by 0.2% from a year earlier matching the information indicated in forecasts.

 

Manufacturing prices fell in July by 2.9%. Prices for shoes fell by 14%, while prices for energy fell by 1.3%.

 

France’s inflation has been demonstrating for a long time minimal levels, despite a rate cut to the historical minimum and a huge programme of the asset purchase.

 

France’s HICP rose in July by 0.4% from a year earlier after the growth by 0.3% in June.
